お盆は祖先の霊を祭る催事です。
Obon is a special event to honor the spirits of ancestors.

この期間に先祖が家に帰ってくるとされる。
It is our ancestors come back home during this period.

私は8月13日に東大寺に夜行きました。
I went to Todaiji Temple on the night of August 13.

しかし時間がお遅かったのでなら燈火会は見れなかった。
However, it is not possible to see Nara_touka_kai since we  go there late.
